Dermatologist-led care
Tattoo removal & dermatology lasers
Dermatology lasers have different uses; the right approach depends on the concern and the skin. For tattoo removal, laser energy targets tattoo pigment over a course of treatment.
At CUTIS in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad), Dr Mahendra Sonune plans care after a clinical evaluation. This page is general information, not an individual diagnosis or prescription.
When to seek an assessment
Patients may ask about a tattoo they want lightened or removed, acne scarring or another concern for which a laser procedure has been suggested. A consultation establishes whether a laser is appropriate at all.
Tattoo colour, age, depth, location, previous removal attempts and skin tone can affect both risks and outcomes.
How we approach the consultation
Dr Sonune examines the area, reviews medical history and skin response, and explains the intended procedure, likely number of visits, possible discomfort and aftercare. A treatment plan is individual rather than based on a fixed package.
For other skin concerns, diagnosis comes first. A laser is one option among several, and referral or non-laser care may be more appropriate.
Care options to discuss
Recommendations depend on the diagnosis, medical history and suitability. Depending on the findings, the discussion may include:
- If suitable, laser tattoo removal may be planned in spaced sessions with careful skin monitoring.
- Selected dermatology laser procedures may be discussed after assessing the specific concern and available options.
- Protection from sun exposure and wound-care instructions are important after a procedure.
Expectations and follow-up
A tattoo may need several sessions and may not clear completely. Colour change, blistering or scarring are possible risks. Follow-up allows the skin to heal, reviews response and adjusts or stops treatment when needed.
