Dermatologist-led care

Psoriasis, eczema & dermatitis

Psoriasis and the various forms of eczema or dermatitis can all cause red, itchy or scaly skin, but they differ in cause and management. Some fungal rashes can look similar too.

At CUTIS in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad), Dr Mahendra Sonune plans care after a clinical evaluation. This page is general information, not an individual diagnosis or prescription.

When to seek an assessment

A consultation is useful for recurring flares, disturbed sleep, cracked or oozing skin, a widespread rash, scalp or nail changes, or symptoms that have not improved with previous care.

Mention joint pain or stiffness alongside a suspected psoriasis rash, as it can affect the assessment.

How we approach the consultation

The doctor examines where and how the rash appears, reviews triggers, skin products, work exposures, medicines and previous treatments. Further tests may be considered if the diagnosis is unclear or infection is suspected.

The aim is to identify the condition and its severity before deciding on a plan, especially if the face, folds, hands or nails are involved.

Care options to discuss

Recommendations depend on the diagnosis, medical history and suitability. Depending on the findings, the discussion may include:

  • For eczema or dermatitis, skin-barrier care, moisturising and trigger management may be central.
  • Prescription anti-inflammatory treatments may be used for appropriate sites and durations after review.
  • Psoriasis treatment depends on extent and impact; more severe cases may need additional therapy or specialist follow-up.

Expectations and follow-up

These conditions can flare again even after improvement. Follow-up checks comfort, skin response and treatment safety, and helps build a manageable maintenance plan. Signs of infection or a rapidly worsening rash warrant prompt medical advice.
